Same story as before, but on Windows 8 instead of 7. It has been a bit more difficult to install the ATI driver.
What I did:
- Download the ATI Legacy drivers (x64 | x86). Install them, going all the way until they fail.
- Download the ATI MobilityModder and install it.
- When it is finished, copy the mobility modder patch to "C:\Program Files (x86)\MobilityDotNET".
- Run the MobilityModder from the Start Menu, then select "C:\ATI\Support\10-02_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc" as your location, and let the Modder do its thing.
- NOT SURE THIS IS NEEDED, CHECK ALTERNATIVE
- Open an elevated Command Prompt and type the following commands:
bcdedit /set {current} testsigning on
thenbcdedit /set {current} nointegritychecks true
- Reboot
- Note this will display an annoying "Test Mode Windows 8" message in Desktop mode
- After all is done you can disable that stuff again (testsigning off and nointegritychecks false)
- Open an elevated Command Prompt and type the following commands:
- The above didn't work for me, or not quite, but this alternative did:
- Reboot in Disable Driver Signature Enforcement mode
- Run "Advanced Startup" app in Windows 8
- Choose to reboot the computer with Advanced Startup options enabled.
- You’ll then be given the opportunity to boot into various troubleshooting modes, including Safe Mode, Debugging Mode and Disable Driver Signature Enforcement mode.
- Reboot in Disable Driver Signature Enforcement mode
- Finally, install the driver
